Hi folks! First of all, let me apologize for my long absence. I took on a new role over the summer which left me with less time to devote to One Crafty Place. I had always intended on finding a balance and coming back, but I honestly don’t think I’m going to be able to do it. During OCP’s short run (about 6 months) I added hundreds of new blogs to my reader and received many submissions. The problem I ran into was that I loved it all! You are all so inspiring that I found myself reading all of your posts, not just the crafty ones…which ended up taking me a VERY long time to go through my reader :). Plus, I had originally only intended on posting 2-3 posts per day. That also wound up being a huge challenge, because there was truly just too much goodness out there. I felt a need to share all of the wonderful things that I found, and not just a few here and there.
At this point, I am sorry to say that I do not think I will be able to continue with this blog. As for what will become of it, I’m still not sure. Some of the options I’ve been rolling around are passing it on to someone else, shutting it down completely, or leaving it as is since the archives are full of great ideas. Any thoughts? I will be removing the submissions page for now and I apologize to all of those who have left submissions over the past few months. Thank you all for your understanding.

I agree, leave your site up, archives are always used.
My suggestion would be to do guest postings. Ask each guest to pick their favourite project and write a full tutorial on it. This way, fresh material is still available, yet your time expense is limited to picking the guests (I recommend for the time being, simply going in order of the submitters so far) and glancing (or reading) over their submission before you press publish. So essentially you’d be changing it to a moderated, single topic per day forum.

I LOVE this site and have been sharing it with all of my crafty friends. I would hate to see it end. I’m sure there are people out there who would love to carry on the crafty spirit of this site. Myself included! I would be so sad to see the site go. =(

Hey Chrissy! Thanks for posting! I completely understand your situation… sometimes stuff grows so big! I think there are some good suggestions here… I like the opening it up to submitters, that way it lives on but you don’t have to devote so much time to it!! I’m sure you’ll figure out the right thing to do. Definitely don’t delete, though!
