Man’s Shirt to Toddler Dress

April 29, 2009

luvinthemommyhooddress

All of these remakes of men’s shirts are just so inspiring! Most recently, Shannon from luvinthemommyhood created this dress and I absolutely love it. Love the colors, love the breezy look about it, love the flower…love everything about it! It’s also encouraging to know that a beginning sewer created it since I’m still a newbie myself. Shannon doesn’t have a tutorial up yet, but she’s working on one so keep an eye out on her blog!

I’ve got this bunny collection. And it’s big. And I anticipate it continuing to grow through Easter. So…I’d like to know the best way for me to share it with you. Would you prefer spurts of small round-ups once or twice per week? A bunny each day? One big list right off the bat? What do you think?

I’ll give you a few just the get the ball rolling!

This mosaic may be a bit overwhelming, so I want to bring your attention to a few things:

  • I’m a sucker for embroidery so the pillow in the center is my absolute favorite. Be sure to click #8 to see the details.
  • For you knitters out there, there’s a lone knitted tooth with pocket on the back on the bottom center. He’s a cutie-pie and you can find a pattern for him at Knit and Crochet Patterns.
  • Take notice of the police fairy tooth (#9)…another one of my favorites from the group. His mouth is the pocket! MmmmCrafts has a pattern available for download for your personal use. Link

DIY Memory Game Roundup

January 22, 2009

I’ve been seeing a TON of memory/matching games popping up all over the blogosphere. The great thing about these games is how customizable they are. I grabbed the ones from my bookmarks and searched for a few more to bring you these:

Art cards memory game from A Bit of This and a Bit of That

jojebiartmemorycards

Printed fabric memory game made by Under Construction (originally from the Stitched In Time book in left sidebar)

underconstructionblogphotomemorygame
also seen at  Sew Liberated from Meg who posted some great tips on playing the game with little ones.

Plus, Jennifer Ackerman Haywood, of CraftSanity, showed hers off on a local news show and talks about how to make it in this video

A few other ideas include using images from a favorite picture book (simply make a high quality copy of the original to make a pair) or make a game using fine art cards.
